044. Weekend recap: BitClout en route to exchange.
The dust settles. Across the post-apocalyptic landscape we see the piles of rubble the deflation bomb left behind. Through the smoke and ash we notice something in the distance. It looks familiar.. could it be… another ticker? This one is quicker than before. 1 day 4 hours 17 mins3 seconds. Tick… tick… tick…

Bits on the menu tonight:
Diamondhands’ drops 💎
First things first. In partnership with @bitcloutsignal, here’s an exclusive look at today’s movers and shakers:
#2 Ubiquitous UX Drops: Da world post 💣💣💣
We survived the deflation bomb and all we got were these lousy t-shirts. We kid, those shirts are hot. But as some in the community expected, the detonation of the deflation 💣 wasn’t necessarily the most explosive thing that’s ever happened on Bitclout.
Immediately after detonation, the ‘Buy Bitclout’ tab on Bitclout.com changed to the following, and a new timer emerged at the top of our pages:
When you navigate to the ‘Click here’ button above, you’re redirected to Blockchain.com to set up an account. Seems safe to say this will be the first exchange that goes live, though that’s not exactly a surprise since they claimed their creator account and posted a few weeks back.
The blockchain.com verification and set-up process only takes a few minutes (even getting initiated for ‘Gold Level’ is pretty quick). That said, the exchange is also conspicuously unavailable in several key states, like Florida, where many of us just convened in person for the first time. We hear other exchanges, like Coinbase, will be close behind Blockchain.com, which should quickly provide a mosaic of coverage so that you can buy, sell, and swap $clout from anywhere (especially El Salvador LFG).
While we know what exchange will list $clout first, there’s still lots of questions at hand here. When will the exchange actually go live? The new $clout countdown that’s on Bitclout.com would certainly seem to indicate that this will happen sometime on Tuesday. But perhaps that timer is just a countdown to the exchange announcement, after which Blockchain.com will still have to load liquidity into pools before exchanging of $clout can actually go live on the platform.
And at what price will $clout list at? While it’s been climbing in OTC markets, as shown above, there’s no more algorithmically determined price on Bitclout.com anymore. As we’ve also all suspected for a while, we reckon this means the algorithmically determined price will be retired, and market supply and demand will dictate the price of $clout in the long run. So… wen 🌙?
In other non-💣related news, there were some new UX drops that either just went live… or may have existed for some time now and we’re just slow on the uptake. ICYMI like us, you can see which of your posts generated the 💎s that show up in the ‘Diamonds’ section of your wallet. The pathway to nostalgia-town is Profile > Diamonds > Diamonds Received. From there, you just have to click on the diamond icons to see what post was diamond-ed.
Example: here is where we got our @maebeam 💎💎💎s from 👇🏼
All credit here goes to @noelfernandez for initially posting about it. @ASG doesn’t find these things on his own 😂
While the post-💣 shrapnel was flying, there were some notable outages and slip-ups going down as well. In the never-ending deluge of @rajpull content, at one point, investors surfing the rollercoaster noticed that they’d inexplicably lost @rajlahoti coins they had recently bought.
Add this to a now growing list of growing pains for the protocol that we’ve observed in recent days (another that comes to mind was the node outages on Thursday of this week). Perhaps these are minor growing pains and par for the course. We’d need someone deeper in the know of the protocol and the blockchain to let us know … paging @tijn @paulburke @mubashariqbal.
Speaking of slip-ups, after launching on Friday, @BitSwap had to shutter things for a while just one day later. Early Saturday morning, clouters were able to buy $clout for a mere $50 per for some reason, a lucrative exploit for any early birds who were able to catch that worm. @BitSwap shut things down subsequently, though they haven’t made public mention of what went wrong.
#3 Project in Focus: @Doodles’ Academy 🚀
If you’ve spent more than a few hours on Bitclout, you know that some of the most impactful creators on the platform aren’t the big names you’re used to seeing on Twitter, Instagram, or Tik Tok. For every @balajis and @helenowen (whom we also love, don’t get us wrong), there’s a @happyduck 🦆, a @memes 🐒, and … @Doodles 🐶, not to mention a million 🤖s.
And it’s one of these pseudonymous legends who took center stage today and launched what could quickly become a central component of the Bitclout ecosystem: @Doodles’ Academy.
Pitched as Y Combinator meets Bitclout, @Doodles recognized there’s opportunity to supercharge emerging creators with actionable coaching on Bitclout, driving engagement, bonding curve economics, and how to find their niche on the platform. In @Doodles words:
“DoodlesAcademy aims to be the premier Creator-Focused accelerator on Bitclout.”
There’s an important distinction being drawn here between creators and projects. Rather than fund projects, @Doodles wants to help creators build their personal brands (much in the same way he did). With his own Bitclout experience, a robust network of savvy clouters and 🐳’s ready to mentor participants, as well as funding from some of the smartest money on Bitclout, including @bitcreatorcapital, we see a clear path to big impact here, especially in the network effects the creators who emerge from this accelerator will enjoy.
Launching with an initial cohort of 10 creators, @Doodles will be opening applications soon. Think you have what it takes to land a spot in what may quickly become the HBS of Bitclout? Follow @Doodles and @doodlesacademy for more details and get ready to scrap it out for a spot 🥊🥊🥊. This is going to be an accelerator straight to the m*f*ckin’ 🌙.
#4 Around the Horn: Let’s get physical 😏
Only a week and a few days in change post Miami, it’s clear that @cloutcon was a watershed moment: With the world opening up, clouters from across the clout-iverse are now setting up meet-ups and even permanent, dedicated spaces to meet in person, share ideas, and above all keep the good energy rolling. Here’s a quick run-down of upcoming opportunities to meet fellow clouters that are on our radars:
First and foremost, we’re blown away (but hardly surprised) to see @NachoAverage and @clayperrymusic leading the charge with a creator house to rival the clout-chasing Tik Tok creator houses that have taken the influencer world by storm in the past year.
We’re super stoked to see what’s in store for this Bitclout-native creator house, and can confirm that @nvo will be on the beat once things are up & running (provided he’s invited 😇)
It equally should come as no surprise that there’s appetite for clouters to take a bite out of the big 🍎 in short order after the Miami festivities. Hosted by @nigeleccles and @flickapp, word has it that the NYC meet up on 6/17 will take place at a swanky terrace right in the heart of Manhattan.
With RSVPs now live and more than 40 people (❗) already committed, waddya waitin’ for, get in there! Absolute Bitclout OG @reade has also committed to sponsoring some lucky clouters trips to make sure the event is well represented and documented, including @AylaCroft, who will be making the trip up from Florida to NY to provider her outstanding photography services that all of us in Miami were blown away by 📷.
Last but certainly not least, there’s something big brewing in the European Union. Ready to get back to travel this summer? Or do you happen to call Europe home already? All systems are go for clouters to converge on Berlin in August 👀👀👀
#5 Rookie Numbers: Gotta pump these up
Onboarding will be even more critical as Bitclout scales from 10,000 DAUs to 100,000. And who better to compile key resources than one of the most trusted names on Bitclout, @BitCloutPulse? This team just keeps delivering (sounds familiar, huh?) and now they’re looking to the future and thinking about the normies that have yet to show up.
Here are a few words from @NickFromPulse on the guide they dropped:
“Our goal is to make onboarding as easy as possible, so feel free to grab any part of the article without crediting us.”
We expect nothing less from the team over at BC Pulse. Check out the full guide here. Better yet, share with a friend or two that isn’t on the platform yet.
One last shoutout? If you’re looking for more great clout-content, check out all the amazing contributions folks are spinning up for the @botbets challenge. Especially in an environment where it felt like creativity and engagement had slowed, this competition is doing the lord’s work to stimulate stand-out content creation on Bitclout 💪.
Thanks for tuning in to another full week of @bitstoday editions, folks. We appreciate you.
