#2 Ubiquitous UX drops: need for speed 🏃 💨
Chuggin’ your beers a little too fast today? It’s not your fault, @Maebeam launched us all into hyperspeed with a little update yesterday ⚡:
There have been plenty of times when BitClout has been slow, buggy, and downright down over its ~5 month existence, especially whenever new updates get pushed. In fact, there was a more substantial outage yesterday:
Even when things were operating ‘smoothly,’ it could still be a really slow experience. With this push (and while we don’t know exactly what they did), the speed at which we can all surf 🏄 our feeds does seem to have picked up meaningfully. Which is great, save for the fact that our hopeless BitClout addictions will probably only intensify from here on out 😂.
What else is coming soon from the core dev team behind BitClout? It looks like a referral program for user acquisition is imminent:
What will a referral program look like? As is fitting for an increasingly decentralized platform, it looks like different node operators will have some range of motion to dictate how referrals will work on their different nodes. For one, node operators can make referrals earned contingent on verification via the KYC integration from Jumio that’s currently being used to gate the $10 signup bonus that’s live on bitclout.com. This is important to weed out armies of bots from referring each other and claiming bonuses ad infinitum 🤖.
@tijn also noted a few more features apparent in the code, including that both the referrer and the referee can be incentivized, though it’s unclear whether the bounty for the referee would be in addition to the existing sign-up bounty:
What’s next on the roadmap for BitClout? Big things likely coming in the next few weeks include a frontend redesign for bitclout.com. So no, BitClout won’t be stuck in 2012 forever 😉. @diamondhands most recent article / interview with Sequoia partner Shan Maguire also explicitly noted “There’s another big listing coming soon.” Pretty much everyone and their mom at this party assumes this refers to Coinbase. It’s possible $clout will be listed on Coinbase as early as September… 🚀🌙.

After securing the winning bid on @diamondhands NFT that unlocked a private 1–1 dinner with him, @drkatcohen is offering 20 NFTs of her own, each of which represents the right to ask @diamondhands one question when he and @drkatcohen have their tête-à-tête 🍽️.
#3 Project in focus 🔎: @MELTMedia rocks a first-of-its-kind event 🚀
Did y’all have the opportunity to catch @MELTMedia x @HansInglish’s event earlier this week? @BitsTODAY was tied up when the show was actually live 😔. We knew we missed out, so we were thrilled to have the chance to watch the recording of the event, which is now live on YouTube (here):
Led by the indefatigable @SirRhett — whose boundless energy and booming voice trumpeted throughout the event — this experience rolled three initiatives all into one. For one, it introduced @HansInglish, a Haitian American hip hop musician to BitClout, opening up his coin for investment in the process. It marked the first onboarding event facilitated by the agency @MELTMedia (keep an eye on these wavemakers 👀). It also launched an NFT, which we covered in part in our last edition, from which all proceeds benefiting charitable organizations in Haiti.
Finally? The audience was treated to an exclusive performance with a certified banger 🎶 from @HansInglish (more on that in a sec). We were especially impressed by how the experience dovetailed social good with hype. As @SirRhett said eloquently:
“It’s not just about supporting creators. It’s about supporting communities.”
The festivities started with some inspired words from @SirRhett and @HansInglish on the intention of the event, the power of BitClout, and the good causes we were all rallying around 💪. Subsequently, they officially opened @HansInglish’s coin on BitClout for investment, launched the charitably focused NFT, and then delved into @HansInglish’s background as a creator. From there it was party time, as the event transitioned into a special studio performance from @HansInglish and Stylezz (hop to 35:00 in the YouTube recording if you’re tryna listen along). *Alexa, volume up!* 🔊
This energy in this exclusive performance was amazing, and its stellar to see agencies like @MELTMedia working with creators like @HansInglish to bring these types of performances and initiatives to BitClout. As we all consider what levers will get the general public more interested in the platform, these combinations of art, performance, and good causes stand out to us as some of the best shots we have to entice folks who are may be interested in the technical specifics of blockchains or in trading creator coins. The more we diversify and expand the type of content and creators on the network, the more valuable the network will become 📈🌙.
#4 NFT showcase: 🎨 highlighting some of BitClout’s finest NFTs
Another Friday Night Happy Hour. Another small sampling of all the awesome NFTs on BitClout in our @BitsTODAY digital showcase. Let’s take a look at some of the coolest new drops that caught our attention this week. Let’s see how clouters have been expressing their creativity this week, shall we? 👀
@aerosolfiends first-of-their-kind NFTs
Profile picture focused NFTs not enough for you anymore? Same here. Let’s expand our world view a bit. Literally. We invite you to step into an entirely new virtual (and VR enabled) world, courtesy of @aerosolfiends. @BobbyDigital42, also known as SYEK, brought @aerosolfiends (which has been around since 2005) and his VRTL VNDL series to BitClout to allow us all to immerse ourselves in a digital world with different environments and DOPE spray-paint art. Here’s a GIF of one of these immersive experiences, though we recommend you watch the video with sound for the full effect
In conversation with @BobbyDigital42, we learned that while not fully ready yet, down the road the owners of these NFTs will be able to access the immersive environments in virtual reality. Equipped with the right hardware, you could spend hours exploring these worlds while knowing you own the NFTs backing them. How cool is that 🤯?
We fu*ked up. We’ve been SLEEPING on @neverwelcome’s amazing character-based renderings 💤. Sorry it took us so long to catch up, @neverwelcome did supply the cover of edition 017 of @BitsTODAY after all. With multiple awesome pieces featured in the latest NFT showcase, there’s some healthy bids coming in on @neverwelcome’s pieces. And we can see why — this art gets our imaginations goin’ like crazy. You could come up with entire narratives and fan fic based on these characters 🤔💭.
Fun times ahead with @Fungibles
While @diamondhands blew minds by offering up a 1–1 dinner with himself via NFT, @Fungibles is officially taking the fun a step further. Rather than just one dinner? You could spend an entire WEEKEND with @Fungibles out in LA, cruising around in a lambo 🏎️ (not kidding), talking crypto, and probably refining your BitClout strategy while you’re at it. This can all be yours for the price of one dinner with @diamondhands 💸. As of yet, there’s no bids, but rumor has it we may be amassing our $clout to see if we can’t get @ASG out there to learn a thing or two from @Fungibles. Will someone beat us to the punch? Bidding runs through the 23rd… we’ll check-in with y’all Monday.
#5 General absurdity: A blue ocean for NSFW BitClout content? 👅🥵
We almost titled this section frisky Friday, but we spared ourselves the embarrassment 😂. ICYMI, OnlyFans, a content subscription service that rose to fame by helping creators gate their NSFW content behind a paywall, is neutering their own business, banning the sexually explicit content they built their budding empire around.
Seems like … an opportunity for BitClout! If you’re still trying to find your niche or looking for a great business idea to build on BitClout, this could be your time 💪. There’s a massive opportunity to bring creators who can’t do their thing on OnlyFans anymore over to BitClout. @diamondhands immediately seized on the news himself:
The solutions creators will want and need are varied. For one, we could see benefit in having entire nodes dedicated not only to adult content, but to all the different vibrant niches of adult content that folks may be creating and or interested in. Similarly, a bevy of tools like @Moonbounce that help BitClout creators create their own native ‘paywalls’ will be important to support creators who want to establish a comparable business model to what they had on OnlyFans on BitClout. Of course, while we’re at it, more seamless integrations for higher-quality video will also probably be important 📹😉, including for live video.
To be clear, this is not an issue to make light of. As @NoFaceGirl notes, creators have built careers and livelihoods around OnlyFans. OnlyFans pulling the plug on adult content is gut-wrenching for folks who have built dedicated subscriber bases and followings over the course of years of hard work 😔.
Fortunately, there’s new entrants working hard to get BitClout ready for a potential influx of new creators and to facilitate their business needs. @CloutFanz and @PinkStar are some early notable names:
Note that we have not vetted or spoken with these projects (hop in our DMs, gang); these are just initial frontrunners we see positioning themselves for adult entertainers and creators. It’s a blue ocean out there for folks looking to create safe, awesome spaces for adult content on BitClout 🌊🌊💦💦.
