Diamondhandsā drops š
#1 BuzzClout
Kicking us off, hereās a look at the creators making the biggest moves today, brought to you by @bitcloutsignal:
Whatās up on the community projects end of things? Weāve got @bithunt here with us to let yāall know:
#2 Ubiquitous UX drops: The frontend gets sexier before sunset š
While weāre still waiting for the big NFT drop (wennn NFTs?!?), there have been plenty of updates to speak of on the UI / UX side of things. Even as @diamondhands has laid out a loose roadmap for sunsetting bitclout.com (more on that in his thread here, and MUCH more on that tomorrow in another special edition š), it seems the core dev team is still cognizant that bitclout.com has role to play in the coming months. Yesterday and Monday, a slew of UX improvements went live, summarized handsomely by @itsaditya:
This isnāt an entirely comprehensive list either ā there were more minute design changes, such as changing the look and feel of the account toggle in the top left of the bitclout.com homepage, as well as other functionality changes, e.g. as follows:
In sum, it looks like the combination of the new CIP repo and the concerted efforts of both the ācoreā dev team and community devs drove some much needed clean-up of the current frontend š§¹.
As new exchanges come online (more on that in a sec- LFG), hopefully the site many of us call home is now more hospitable to lots of new DAUs š š¤.
#3 Market watch: $clout enters new era of ascendency š
ICYMI, big news on the exchange front dropped last night:
Hallmarks of any successful cryptocurrency include an abundance of exchange options for folks to buy, sell, and swap the coin. With @AscendEx_Global joining @blockchain as the second exchange to officially list $clout, prospective customers now have another such option. While not as recognizable a brand name as Coinbase or UniSwap, @AscendEx_Global will provide more liquidity and open the market to a new range of international buyers who operate in jurisdictions not supported by @blockchain.
@AscenEx_Global is also offering bounties to new users who register for BitClout and buy $clout on their exchange, which should help scale new user awareness and adoption:
Ideally each iterative exchange listing will give rise to more listings; as $clout establishes more and more legitimacy, more and more exchanges should find it easier to list, spinning a flywheel of ever greater liquidity and adoption š.
So ā¦ whoās next? @Brian_Armstrong, you hopping in here or what? (please say yes)
#4 $clout competitions: Itās raininā $clout āš¶
Prior to the UX updates that rolled out since Monday and the announcement of the new exchange listing, things had been a touch quiet in the cloutiverse. Fortunately, weāre increasingly seeing the community and leaders from the project and investing front step up to fill the void.
To kick off the week, the legends at @bitcloutpulse announced a HUGE competition to stoke investment activity on BitClout:
The name of the game? @bitcloutpulse is rewarding investors across a few different critera, sweepstakes style:
- $10,000 $clout will be split across the creators with the highest level of buying activity in creator coins this week.
- Another $10k will be awarded in a random drawing of all creators who buy at least 100 $clout worth of creator coins.
- And finally? Anyone who buys at least 1 $clout more than they sell in creator coins this week gets entered into another random drawing for the remaining $10,000.
Fire the investment cannons! You might just earn back your principal in rewards š£.
Of course, the biggest investors on BitClout donāt need an added incentive to ape into creator coins š¦. @CreatorFundManager, the investment leader of one of the biggest investment funds on BitClout (@CreatorFund), announced heās looking to invest $1M (!!!) in creator coins this week:
Between this competition from @bitcloutpulse and the independent initiative from @CreatorFundManager, hopefully this week will be an absolute BUYING spree across the board for creator coins. Ideally, new users coming to check out BitClout post @AscendEX_Global listing will get swept up in the fun too.
Soā¦ get after it! Itās raininā $clout š°!
#5 General absurdity: Rapid-fire round šØ
Alrighty, to round things out tonight, weāre hitting you with a rapid-fire round of updates on the general absurdity front. Why? Well ā¦ because thereās been plenty of it over the past ~72 hours. Letās get caught up:
A first for everything
Weād like to extend a warm welcome to @georgedeek, one of BitCloutās newest members, and also, to our knowledge, the first-ever international ambassador on BitClout.
Currently Israelās ambassador to Azerbaijan, perhaps @georgedeek can moonlight as BitCloutās ambassador to the moon in the future š.
MOAR boomer media
The past few days have seen BitClout OGs infiltrate the boomer media outlets to promote what weāre all up to over here. @highkey is leading the charge again; after penning a piece in Business Insider a few months back, @highkey coin is now officially gracing the pages of Maxim, too:
Further, while some have speculated that @artz is, in fact, dead š, his contributions to an article on Yahoo Finance covering BitClout and the second exchange listing on AscendEX suggest otherwise.
Hereās what @artz had to share about the BitClout community in the article:
āBitClout is about individuals taking ownership of the media they createā¦ By delivering an open protocol for decentralized social networks, BitClout is the aggregation of coins and code designed to create the first true open marketplace for ideas. By partnering with AscendEX, BitClout isnāt the only one continuing growth; the creators are.ā (Thanks for the tip here, @ErenYeager!)
Attack of the bots š¤
While weāve been enjoying the rush of news and investing on BitClout, a select group of users have been subject to another rush ā namely of bots spamming their notifications.
While the source of this new bot army is as of yet unclear, @tijn did some yeomanās work as usual to identify which accounts were subject to this BitClout notification DDoS equivalent:
If you nav to @tijnās post and expand the table, youāll see @brootle actually topped the list in terms of bot traffic received. While the list isnāt de-duped for ārealā engagement, the bigger question here is ā¦ WTF?
We all know bots are part and parcel of life on BitClout, but this surge in traffic targeted at specific creators seems potentially malicious. As notes @brootle, the botsā personas appear to be copied from Twitter profiles. He also opined that perhaps thereās a group advocating for ways to gate engagement (i.e. only followers above a certain coin price can engage with me). At worst? Perhaps this will devolve into a hostile maneuver by the bot owners to extort users to end the flood of their notifsā¦
Weāll keep yāall apprised of any updates on this front. Stay safe out there.
Boom. We covered a lot of ground today. Thanks for digging in with us and as always, we appreciate you for tuning in!
With love,
@BitsTODAY
