Hi there friends,

Almost time for a new week on BitClout! This last one has been an absolute madhouse, with NFTs, splashy investments, and tons of new high-profile clouters coming online (sup, @tyga). This weekend has been especially crazy — we swear this is what the early days of BitClout in April felt like. While it may already be August (time flies) now, we’d say there’s a shot the rest of the summer is gonna be white-hot in the cloutiverse 🔥🔥🔥.

(Don’t have BitClout account yet? No sweat, Go create one for free here!)

Bits on the menu tonight:

  1. BuzzClout: Exclusive updates from @bitcloutsignal and @bithunt ⚡️
  2. Ubiquitous UX drops: NFT szn starts with a sizzle 🔥
  3. 🐳 Watch 🚨: BitClout is back in the absolute *splash* zone
  4. NFT Showcase: New profile pic, who dis? 💁‍♀️
  5. General Absurdity: Clouters’ take home Olympic gold 🥇

Diamondhands’ drops 💎

#1 BuzzClout

Before we dive in deep, let’s take a gander at who made the biggest moves today, brought to you by @bitcloutsignal. There’s some absolute MOVEMENT happening of late 👀:

Now, over to the community project side of the cloutiverse. Where are the 🐋s congregating? @bithunt has the info for us:

#2 Ubiquitous UX drops: NFT szn starts with a sizzle 🔥

After NFTs launched on Wednesday, all attention (and $clout capital flows) are being monopolized by the NFTs themselves right now. LOTS more on that in the following sections btw. Here’s a quick update / run-down on UI/UX updates of note:

  • First and foremost, if you haven’t scope @BitsTODAY edition 064, which has all the details on what the v1 of NFTs on BitClout.com looks like ❗
  • There are a ton more features that aren’t live yet for NFTs, but that we know are coming. These include direct NFT transfers, burning NFTs, and splitting proceeds between creators 💃🏻. More on the NFT roadmap can be found from an original @diamondhands update here.
  • Earlier today, @diamondhands also had an interesting proposal for allowing creators put NFTs perpetually on sale ♾️:
BitClout NFTs go BRRRRRRRRRR💵
  • Right now, owners of NFTs have to open up auctions each time they’d like to sell an NFT. On marketplaces like OpenSea however, users can bid on other users NFT’s anytime they like 💡.
  • This could drive more sales with less friction. One downside is that users may get spammed with bids for their NFTs, and owners of valuable NFTs who don’t know what they’re hodling may accept lowball bids, as happens too often on other marketplaces 📉.

#3 🐳 Watch 🚨: BitClout is back in the absolute *splash* zone

We don’t want to jinx it … but it looks like the doldrums and dog days of declining DAUs and stagnant investment flows on BitClout may be coming to a close. The catalyst? None other than NFTs, baby.

In the past 48 hours or so alone, we’ve seen some absolutely massive investments and hype surrounding various NFTs and creator coins 🥵. @dharmesh, who has invested north of $1M across BitClout already, got the party started by buying an NFT associated with @diamondhands’ NFT launch announcement for 500 $clout (which is north of $50,000 💸) 🐋🐋🐋:

@Dharmesh is basically the Moby Dick of BitClout whales
Howie approves, tho we see a lot more long-term value in NFTs than betting on bball 🏀

That’s not where the action stopped, however. As creators and investors begin to appreciate the power of NFT creator coin royalties, namely a mechanism whereby a % of profits from an NFT sale accrue back to a creator coin, the entire ecosystem of creators, community projects based around NFTs, and NFT projects is getting a ton more attention. 📈

On the art side? One major NFT sale we saw hit the wires was for @blxckcherry’s “Frozen Suspense”, which sold to @TonyWu for north of $5,000.

Similarly, projects like @minted, which is developing an NFT marketplace, attracted it’s own massive investment from @JakeUdell. While we wait to see what the first ‘NFT Showcase’ on the bitclout.com node will look like, it’s likely that the best NFT marketplaces will be built on their own independent nodes, with more attractive UI/UX than the core team has devoted to the current BitClout front-end (not to say we don’t love bitclout.com, but the design… leaves something to be desired.)

According to @tijn — who hosted his own awesome NFT showcase, featuring dozens of artists’ NFTs, on his BitClout node, tijn.club yesterday — we’ve already seen more than $1M in bids on NFTs on BitClout since launch:

@Tijn coming in hot with the bar charts like its the quarterly all-hands meeting and we hit all our targets

And we’re just scratching the surface here. For the NFT projects making the BIGGEST splash in the past 24 hours? Well… read on to section 4 👇👇👇

Generative art NFT projects have been going absolutely ballistic on the Ethereum blockchains. Original CryptoPunks have sold for more than $10M. A piece. And new entrants like Bored Ape Yacht Club have seen the minimum price for any of the NFTs in their series skyrocket to a ‘floor’ of 10 ETH, i.e. more than $25k as of this writing.

Now? Avatar based projects are making it big on BitClout, too 💪. While we don’t believe any of the projects listed below are truly ‘generative’, that is created programmatically, the artwork is beautiful, and enticing, and includes all the same appeal of expressing one’s individuality while simultaneously participating in a community of fellow NFT hodlers.

Who’s making 🌊s with avatar based NFT series on BitClout? You need look no further than where @diamondhands is cutting checks:

@dimondhands apes just hit different

Wow. That’s some top dollar being paid for the masterminds behind a few NFT projects. Let’s take a closer look at some of the NFTs from @cloutpunk (founded by @danielkempe) and @illuMEMEnati.

@cloutpunk for one is inspired by the most successful generative NFT art project in the world, CryptoPunks by Larva Labs. As we noted at the top, there’s CryptoPunks selling for millions of dollars 🤯. @cloutpunk(s) are similar in their pixelated caricature style. Another fun component of the project? All @cloutpunk(s) are based on BitClout users, and you can commission your own too by buying their creator coin.

we like the new hair-do, maeyonce 💇

With respect to @illuMEMEnati’s work, the NFTs follow in a more detailed, life-like style that has been popularized since CryptoPunks by projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club. His “Rowdy Reptiles” scream cold-blooded, counter-culture, dgaf-attitude to us 🦎. Which we love. But part of the beauty is it’s all up to individual interpretation, too 💭:

This dude got the whole blockchain around his neck

Now, the money is flowing into these projects as BitClout legends like @JakeUdell pick their avatar team and bid up these NFTs. Believe it or not, @pamelaanderson even picked one up. Yeah, frfr. Don’t be surprised if by the middle of next week every user has a different profile pic! This trend is going to capsize all others on BitClout, at least for a while 🌊🌊.

Yo @jakeudell great pick up. He looks JUST LIKE YOU. Spitting image.

And the market for these NFTs is only goin’ up from the looks of it… looks like @diamondhands might spend a BAG on a Steve Jobs @cloutpunk 🥵:

the answer is YES, lets… f*ckin’ … goooo

Last but certainly not least for now? Looks like @BitsTODAY’s super rare 1/1 NFT is doin’ numbers, too 👀:

mama… we’re makin’ it… ⬆️⬆️⬆️

#5 General Absurdity: Clouters’ take home Olympic gold 🥇

Normally when we write a title like the one above, y’all probably have come to expect that it’s some sort of pun, or play on words, or obscure reference only true BitClout OGs would understand.

Not this time, massive congratulations to @Alexander_zverev, who we believe is the first active clouter to take home an Olympic gold!!! 🤯 Representing Germany, @Alexander_zverev bested his opponent in the Men’s gold medal tennis competition in straight sets 🎾💪 to take home the top prize 🔝.

To be fair, @Alexander_zverev hasn’t posted in a while… But perhaps he’s been busy, you know, preparing for the Olympics. Maybe we can coax him back 🤗. What do you say, BitClout? Let’s show love to our first Olympic Gold Medalist the way we know bests … i.e. smothering him with engagement (& we’re not soliciting here … but maybe some ape-investments too?? 🦍🦍)

As much as this German writer is down to a German take home the gold, any chance we can … have you represent the independent nation of BitClout in the 2024 Olympics @Alexander_zverev? That’d be pretty rad 😉.

Another one bites the dust. Much love fam, thanks for tuning in ❤. We appreciate you,
