Today’s edition features guest contributions from @nigeleccles (stellar, frequent contributor, we might add). Our intro design was provided courtesy @MattZanetti.

Good to see you, Clouters,

We hope you’re reminiscing sweetly about good times spent on Planet Earth in the past. How quaint and peaceful those BC (before clout) times seemed indeed. As we hurtle through the Clout-iverse on Planet BitClout, we tip our caps to that pale blue rock we used to call home.

She Sent The Nodes!

Last night, in a small step for her but a giant leap for BitClout (moon pun courtesy of @ludo), @MaeBeam announced that the code behind BitClout block explorer is now open-source.

Don’t be fooled by the nodes that she got. She’s still, she’s still Maebeam from the block(chain).

As writes @nigeleccles:

“The block explorer page lets you inspect the raw transactions on the blockchain. The BitClout team has now open sourced the web app for that page which shows developers how to make different queries from the blockchain. This isn’t a big milestone in itself. However what is significant is that it shows the direction of travel (towards open source) and speed of development of the project (which has been very impressive).”

While potential future super users like @Naval originally pointed to the lack of the off-ramp for BitClout as the “biggest missing component to (its) legitimacy” calls for open-source data are also prevalent. As per @Naval last week on Clubhouse:

“What I would like to see from Bitclout is … source code open-sourced so that there are multiple nodes running.”

Open-source… just makes sense if the end-goal is decentralized social media. We’re pretty sure that’s where it’s headed. We’ll wait patiently for more nodes while we admire the current crop.

***Update as of 9:30 pm. We have seen the full nodes. We didn’t even ask for them this time. We are recovering from shock (and 🥵) and will report on this in full tomorrow.

#3 Deadmau5 in the Hau5?

Calling all music lovers and ex-rave junkies: @Douglasss officially dropped one of the hottest coin holder rewards / promos we’ve seen on the platform to-date today. To get in on this exclusive session with legendary progressive house pioneer @deadmau5 (as of yet inactive), you can (i) buy @Douglasss’ coin or (ii) RC his post.

A Zoom confrence with Deadmau5 if you own some $douglasss is a sentence I never thought i’d write.

So which will be harder to get into: Berghain on a Tuesday night in Berlin or this new BitHaus zoom club? Is there a collab with @BennyBlanco on the horizon? Is @Da5id really @Deadmau5? In any case, we hope to see you all there (really, @Douglass, let us in…please).

(*turns on Strobe by Deadmau5 to crank out the rest of this @BitsTODAY drop*).

#4 Deep OTM puts?

You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge

Yesterday we witnessed the first… self-inflicted sell-off of a creator coin (as far as we know). @HPaulson occasioned a precipitous dump of his coin yesterday after @marionawfal invested in him. @HPaulson took exception with previous actions @marionawfal had taken on the platform, accusing him of being a repeat rug puller, and wanted him out as an investor. Predictably, @marionawfal in turn took exception to the accusations, as well as to @HPaulson’s tactics, which he said cost him $22k.

We won’t weigh in on the controversy ourselves here, but we are interested in the implications of this ‘interaction’. Do we need better gating mechanisms to restrict who can invest in your creator coins? How can creators better manage investments from whales that they feel might not be in their best long-term interest? And @wallstbets, did you have the deep OTM Puts on this one by any chance?

#5 8-Bit Explosion To The Moon

Seeing a lot of 8-bit profile pics pop up on your feed? These Super Nintendo reminiscent beauties that are taking over BitClout one pixel at a time are the work of @cloutpunk. @scottco mentioned @cloutpunk in our Discord yesterday while we were curating our up & comers section for 012. By the time we checked them out, they were up big. Like $750 per coin, up. Which made it hard to spotlight them as a low cap artist (now above $3,500 a coin).

Why are these so popular? For one, you get to digitally immortalize yourself with a custom piece based off your profile pic when you buy one. Secondly, @cloutpunk is only making 1024 of them. The name of the game is limited, these days. Thirdly, the @cloutpunk team plans to create an NFT with the 1024 clout punks purchased, with buyers of the punks entitled to a piece of the eventual profits. Perhaps most of all though? You get to flex 💪.

If you’re keen to get in on the action you better move fast. These puppies were going for $100 a piece yesterday and are already up to $250 now. I saw #104 last time I checked, but they have sold a total of 176.

That’s all we’ve got for you on 013. This marks the end of tonight’s transmission from Planet BitClout. Thank you for reading and we’ll be back jammin’ on the clout-waves with you all soon.

Over and out,
